The Ghost of Chevrolet Trucks On

With the recent problems facing the mighty General Motors and its sister company, Chevrolet thanks to an economic climate not exactly conducive to large numbers of people buying new automobiles you’d begin to wonder if the company is actually able to remain in business. There have been rumors flying around that parts of the company are set to close with massive work force layoffs at every turn.

Yet the company is still in business and they are still churning out the autos for people to buy. What is even more amazing is that plenty of people are still managing to find the finances to buy new vehicles and a fair percentage of them are choosing to buy Chevy autos. So while the doomsday merchants are all expounding the onset of the end of the giant GMC marque, sales and new vehicles on the roads say otherwise.

That means the ghost of Chevrolet trucks on and indeed on and on as there seems to be no visible end to the production lines that are spewing out new trucks and cars at a rate of knots. Which means no ghost as the marque is very much alive and well, or so it seems. Who would have thought that such a large auto company could be so badly affected by a little economic downward slide and not have a little something up its conglomerate sleeve to keep the home fires burning and the fancy motors trundling happily off the end of the production line?

Whatever you think of Chevy motors, there are some pretty good ones depending on what you want them for. Of course, their trucks have been making up the backbone of the trade world in the US for many decades since the first clunky looking CK pickup truck appeared around 1930 even though it actually left the drawing board in 1924. The most popular pickups of the century appeared in 1960 and have dominated the markets ever since, despite competition from Japan in the form of the Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi trucks to those at home from Ford.

A versatile and useful utility vehicle, the popular Chevrolet pickup trucks have kept small businesses going and many a tradesman in business as this successful range of models goes from strength to strength. Hopefully there will be no sign of any Chevy ghosts for many years to come!
